  LeGro Gardens is a small backyard nursery with about one-third acre devoted to daylilies.    We hybridize to produce daylilies which have resistance to insects, rust, and drought and grow under normal garden conditions.    Accordingly we hybridize without the use of insecticides, fungicides, or a hothouse.    We grow our daylilies in partial shade to enhance seed set.    Also we are restricted in our watering by legal and price restrictions for water conservation.   Hence you may likely be able to exceed our recorded branching and bud estimates.    All of our daylilies are available in only limited quantities.    Currently our hybridizing efforts are largely directed toward improving double daylilies whose beauty, we believe, is yet largely undiscovered.   You should be aware that a fully double bloom requires about twice the plant energy for its production compared to a single bloom of similar size.   Hence double daylilies generally have lower branching and bud counts than single daylilies of  the same size.   Our description "99% Double"means that we have never seen the daylily bloom single.  We send double divisions of all daylilies except for some new introductions.    We are in Zone 7a; our peak blooming season is near the middle of June.     We welcome garden visitors but do give us a call in advance to make certain that we are at home and that the dog has been put up!    You will find hostas, camellias, rhododendrons, wild azaleas and other native plants in our shade garden.
